JOHANA ERA ZAINUDIN was appointed as the Principal Officer of Labuan Re in January 2014, and later re-designated as its Chief Executive Officer in May 2014.
She graduated in BSc of Economics majoring in Finance and Marketing Psychology in 1994 from The Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania, USA.
She began her career in investment banking in the area of corporate finance. Having served two investment banks for seven years, Johana was involved in various corporate exercises such as the restructuring of companies, M&As, and fund raising issuances. She then joined an international management consulting firm where she developed the shareholder value-added models, strategic plans and business plans for corporations and a multilateral organisation.
She joined Labuan Re in 2002 as its Chief Investment Officer, where she had restructured the Investment Department to play a more active role directly in the capital market. While in Labuan Re, she obtained her MBA from Australia. She was subsequently given the additional duties as the Company Alternate Secretary and the Head of the Lloyd’s Investment Division, where the Company participates in a few Lloyd’s of London syndicates which are involved in the global insurance and reinsurance businesses.
Johana sits on the Board of Labuan Re Underwriting Limited (a wholly-owned subsidiary company of Labuan Re, which is also a Corporate Member at Lloyd’s of London) and the Global Takaful Group. She is also a Board member of the Federation of Afro-Asian Insurers and Reinsurers (FAIR), representing Malaysia.
MAUREEN J. KANANONG is the Chief Investment Officer / Senior Vice President of Labuan Re.
Maureen joined the Company as an Accounts Executive in January 1997. She was transferred to the Investment Department in 1998 where she has built her investment management experience. She was a Vice President since July 2013 before assuming her present position in December 2016.
She graduated from the University of Liverpool, UK in 1992 with a BA (Hons) in Accounting.
CHONG WAN LENG is the Appointed Actuary / Senior Vice President at Labuan Re.
She is a Fellow member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, UK, as well as the Actuarial Society of Malaysia (ASM). She is also ASM’s Head of General Insurance Committee. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science (First Class Honours) in Actuarial Science from Cass Business School, City University, London.
She began her career in a general insurance actuarial consultancy where she undertook various assignments covering reserving, pricing, capital modelling, reinsurance optimisation, mergers and acquisitions for domestic and foreign insurers, reinsurers, takaful/retakaful operators and reinsurance brokers. Thereafter, she joined AmGeneral Insurance where her last held position was Senior Manager in the Actuarial Department. Her role as Senior Manager entailed her working extensively on actuarial reserving and capital modelling.
She joined Labuan Re in 2015 as Assistant Vice President and assumed her present position in 2017.
JOSHUA WONG YEO SIONG is the Chief Underwriting Officer / Senior Vice President of Labuan Re.
He graduated from the University of Memphis, USA in 1998 majoring in Marketing (BBA). He started his career since 1998, held various positions in reinsurance broking, insurance company, and multinational reinsurance companies. He joined Labuan Re in 2014.
NOR ILYANA SUFA’AT is the Head of Accounts / Vice President at Labuan Re.
She is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and Finance from the Liverpool John Moores University, UK.
She began her career in 2002 as an audit trainee with audit firms in Dublin, Ireland. Thereafter she was in banking industry with various banks in Malaysia for more than 10 years. Prior to joining Labuan Re. she was based in Finance Operations with Prudential BSN Takaful Berhad as a Senior Manager. She assumed her current position in 2017.
NORLIZA ISHAK is the Vice President / Underwriter for Overseas, and Domestic Treaty of Labuan Re.
Her career started as a Reinsurance Executive with the then Malaysia National Insurance Berhad in 1982. She was a Senior Officer, Reinsurance & Research at Arab-Malaysian Assurance Berhad before leaving and joining Labuan Re in 1998 as an Assistant Manager.
She was promoted to Manager in 2001, to Assistant Vice President in 2005 and subsequently promoted, and assumed her present position in 2013.
MAZNI ZAININ is the Vice President and Underwriter of Facultative, Large Risks and Energy of Labuan Re. She is also the head of the Technical Services Department and has over 28 years of experience in the insurance industry.
She holds an Insurance Diploma from the Malaysian Insurance Institute (DMII) and is an Associate member the Malaysian Insurance Institute (AMII).
Mazni joined the insurance industry in 1988, first as a Broker with Asli-Jardine Insurance Brokers Sdn Bhd and subsequently moved to UMBC Insurans Berhad (UMBCI) as a Marketeer in their Broking Department in 1991.
Following the Bank Negara’s introduction of the Large & Specialised Risks Scheme (LSR Scheme) in 1994, Mazni was groomed and later promoted to head the LSR Unit within UMBCI’s Underwriting and Reinsurance Department. She was responsible for all the reinsurance placements, issuance of manuscript policies and the necessary reporting relating to risks falling within the Scheme. Her tenure as the Head of the LSR Unit had provided her with a comprehensive exposure to major line of business and type of risks.
She has been with Labuan Re since April 2000 and is currently responsible for developing, marketing and underwriting Facultative businesses from Malaysia and all overseas territories.
HASSANAL BUKHARI ABDULLAH is the Assistant Vice President and Treaty Underwriter for MENA, Retakaful for Labuan Re.
His reinsurance career started in 1998 when he joined Cameron Richard & Smith Insurance Services as a Financial Account Executive, and subsequently joined its subsidiary CRS Insurance Services Limited in Kuala Lumpur where he rose through the ranks to become Assistant General Manager – Technical. Prior to Labuan Re he was an Underwriter with Malaysian Re Dubai Limited, UAE, as part of the team that started their overseas office, and where he gained valuable experience in the international reinsurance industry. He graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin, USA with Bachelor Degree in Business Management.
Hassanal joined Labuan Re on December 2013 as Manager for MENA Division and assumed his present position in May 2016.
WANG JOON SZE is the Assistant Vice President and Underwriter of North Asia and Indochina of Labuan Re.
He started his early career with Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance (M) Berhad in 2002 as an Assistant Executive in their Underwriting Department. Thereafter from 2005 to 2015, he joined Best Re (L) Limited where he undertook the job of underwriting Facultative and Treaty businesses in North Asia and Indian Subcontinent. Prior to Labuan Re, he was a Business Development Manager in Overseas Assurance Corporation (Malaysia) Berhad, Kuala Lumpur Branch. He joined Labuan Re in 2017.
EVELYN SIMON KINAJIL is the Vice President of Claims, Treaty Administration and Retrocession Recovery. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) Marketing and a Diploma in Insurance (MII). She began her career as an Account Officer with Sabah Shipyard Sdn Bhd before joining Labuan Re as a Credit Control Executive in the Finance Department.
She was promoted to Manager in 2004 to handle both Credit Control and Administration portfolios and was subsequently transferred to the Claims Department in 2006 to manage the Claims & Treaty Administration operations.
She was promoted to her current position in 2017 and currently handles the Claims and Retrocession Recoveries portfolio.
CHAI WEI KOK is the Assistant Vice President, Head of IT of Labuan Re.
He graduated from University of Humberside, UK. He also holds a Master of Science (MSc) in IT in Business from University of Lincoln, UK. He is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from Project Management Institute (PMI), USA.
He started his career in 1995 with Boustead Holdings Berhad. He also has a career stint in various industries including financial MNCs in the banking and insurance sector. He assumed his current position in May 2016.
RAYMOND J. RAJAYAH is the Risk and Compliance Officer/Assistant Vice President of Labuan Re and holds a Diploma in Accounting (LCCI). He began his career at the Industrial Bank of Japan as an Account Executive in 1996.
He joined Labuan Re in 2002 as an Assistant Manager in the Administration Department and was transferred to the Corporate Development Department in 2003. He was then transferred to the Risk and Compliance Department in 2006 and subsequently assumed his present position in 2017.
ROZI ABDUL RAZAK is the Assistance Vice President of HR, Admin, Property & Training Department.
He has more than 15 years of professional experience in Human Resources with extensive exposure in operational and strategic Human Resources Management, having worked with various corporate sectors and HR project consulting. Prior to joining Labuan Re he was the Head of Learning & Development at Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN).
Holder of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration majoring in Human Resource from Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, USA.
He joined Labuan Re on April 9th 2018.
HANAN HAYATI AHMAD KUSHAIRI is the Manager of Corporate Development Department.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in International Business from Multimedia University. She has also been awarded the Chartered Islamic Finance Professional from INCEIF (Masters Programme). She is also a certified Shariah Registered Financial Planner under MFPC (Malaysian Financial Planning Council). Hanan is a member of Chartered Institute of Islamic Professionals.
Prior to joining Labuan Re in 2017, she was based in Strategic Planning, Finance with Prudential BSN Takaful Berhad. Hanan began her career as a sales acquisition team member under Business Development Department, Premier Banking of OCBC (Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation) Bank Berhad. Thereafter she joined Malayan Banking Berhad (MBB) under Cash Management Department as a Junior Executive, MIS and Performance Reporting and transferred to Finance Business Operations under Global Wholesale Banking as a Senior Executive under Performance & Financial Planning division. Hanan is exposed to both banking and takaful industry throughout her working experience.
