SHAHRUL AZUAN MOHAMED

SHAHRUL AZUAN BIN MOHAMED, aged 58, the Chief Executive Officer of Etiqa General Takaful Berhad is a seasoned professional with 30 years’ experience in the general and life insurance and takaful industries in Malaysia. He has brought strategic vision, agile thinking, great motivational ability and a strong business acumen to EGTB since taking over as CEO in 2020.

Shahrul holds a Fellowship of the Malaysian Insurance Institute, is as Senior Associate of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance & Finance (ANZIIF), a Certified Insurance Practitioner (CIP), an Affiliate in Financial Planning of the Malaysian Financial Planning Council. He holds an Executive Masters in Business Administration from Open University Malaysia. He is a sitting member of the Board of the Central Administration Bureau (CAB) Supervisory Board of Malaysia Reinsurance Berhad, a member of the Management Committee of the Malaysian Takaful Association.

He began his career in the insurance industry with MBf Insurance in 1992, and furthered his career in American Malaysian Insurance Bhd as well as Malaysian National Insurance. Following the merger, he was appointed as Executive Vice President for Corporate Business before moving to manage Agency Business. His career progressed steadily, until he was appointed as Etiqa’s Chief Agency Officer in 2016, responsible for directing agency related matters for all Etiqa’s Malaysia based entities and has led significant improvements in Etiqa’s business. He was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Etiqa General Takaful Berhad in 2020 and has led the company to significant growth and advancement in business strategy and operational efficiency.
