JOHANA was appointed as the Principal Officer of Labuan Re in January 2014, and later re-designated as its Chief Executive Officer in May 2014.

She graduated in BSc Economics majoring in Finance and Marketing Psychology in 1994 from The Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania, USA.

She began her career in investment banking in the area of corporate finance. Having served two investment banks for a span of seven years, Johana was involved in various corporate activities such as the restructuring of companies, M&As, and fund raising exercises. She then joined an international management consulting firm where she developed the shareholder value-added models and strategic plans for corporations and a multilateral organisation.

She joined Labuan Re in 2002 as its Chief Investment Officer, where she had restructured the Investment Department to play a direct active role in the capital market. While in Labuan Re, she obtained her MBA from Australia. She was subsequently given the additional duties as the Company Alternate Secretary and Head of Lloyd’s Department.

Johana sits on the Board of Labuan Re Underwriting Limited (a wholly-owned subsidiary company of Labuan Re, which is a Corporate Member at Lloyd’s of London). She is also a Board member of the Federation of Afro-Asian Insurers and Reinsurers (FAIR).
