JOHANA ERA ZAINUDIN was appointed as the Principal Officer of Labuan Re in January 2014, and later re-designated as its Chief Executive Officer in May 2014.

She graduated in BSc of Economics majoring in Finance and Marketing Psychology in 1994 from The Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania, USA.

She began her career in investment banking in the area of corporate finance. Having served two investment banks for seven years, Johana was involved in various corporate exercises such as the restructuring of companies, M&As, and fund raising issuances. She then joined an international management consulting firm where she developed the shareholder value-added models, strategic plans and business plans for corporations and a multilateral organisation.

She joined Labuan Re in 2002 as its Chief Investment Officer, where she had restructured the Investment Department to play a more active role directly in the capital market. While in Labuan Re, she obtained her MBA from Australia. She was subsequently given the additional duties as the Company Alternate Secretary and the Head of the Lloyd’s Investment Division, where the Company participates in a few Lloyd’s of London syndicates which are involved in the global insurance and reinsurance businesses.

Johana sits on the Board of Labuan Re Underwriting Limited (a wholly-owned subsidiary company of Labuan Re, which is also a Corporate Member at Lloyd’s of London) and the Global Takaful Group.  She is also a Board member of the Federation of Afro-Asian Insurers and Reinsurers (FAIR), representing Malaysia.

MAUREEN J. KANANONG is the Chief Investment Officer / Senior Vice President of Labuan Re.

Maureen joined the Company as an Accounts Executive in January 1997. She was transferred to the Investment Department in 1998 where she has built her investment management experience. She was a Vice President since July 2013 before assuming her present position in December 2016.

She graduated from the University of Liverpool, UK in 1992 with a BA (Hons) in Accounting.

KOK YEW KONG is the Chief Financial Officer / Senior Vice President of Labuan Re.

He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Accountants ( FCCA ) and a Chartered Accountant with the Malaysia Institute of Accountants ( MIA ). He also holds an Insurance Diploma from the Malaysian Insurance Institute (DMII).

He brings along more than 23 years of experience in financial management in the insurance industry, he joined Labuan Re in December 2018 from QBE Insurance ( Singapore ) Pte Ltd where he was the Chief Financial Officer since 2016. Prior to that he was the Chief Financial Officer in Chubb Insurance Malaysia Berhad, he also spent 8 years as the Company Secretary/Assistant General Manager with QBE Insurance ( Malaysia ) Berhad and 13 years as Assistant Vice President for Finance with MSIG Insurance ( Malaysia ) Berhad.

AW YONG CHOR LEONG was appointed Vice President, Head of Actuarial of Labuan Reinsurance (L) Berhad in July 2019.

Chor Leong is one of the few qualified actuaries in Malaysia to specialise in Actuarial Pricing.  Previously as Head of Pricing in The Pacific Insurance Berhad, he had led the company through the Phased Liberalisation of Motor and Fire Tariffs.  He implemented a unique method to complement risk-based pricing and to optimise the company’s risk selection, which set its pricing apart from competitors and subsequently led to strong underwriting results post implementation.  The method is still being practised today.  His other Actuarial Pricing experience was with a local reinsurer and retakaful operator, where he developed a Facultative Property Rating Tool and is the first reinsurer to do so locally.  Rating tools are now standard across the market.

Besides Actuarial Pricing, he has experience in Actuarial Reserving, Portfolio Management and Risk & Capital Management.  In QBE Insurance (Malaysia) Berhad, he was responsible in preparing actuarial reports, profitability analyses and Financial Condition Report of the company.  He also mentored interns through The General Insurance Internship for Talent (GIIFT) organised by the General Insurance Association of Malaysia (PIAM), where all of them are now gainfully employed in the industry.

He is Fellow of Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) and a First Class Honours graduate from University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur.  He occasionally travels to United States to give talks to actuaries globally on topics related to Malaysian insurance.

NORLIZA ISHAK is the Vice President / Underwriter for Overseas, and Domestic Treaty of Labuan Re.

Her career started as a Reinsurance Executive with the then Malaysia National Insurance Berhad in 1982. She was a Senior Officer, Reinsurance & Research at Arab-Malaysian Assurance Berhad before leaving and joining Labuan Re in 1998 as an Assistant Manager.

She was promoted to Manager in 2001, to Assistant Vice President in 2005 and subsequently promoted, and assumed her present position in 2013.

MAZNI ZAININ is the Vice President and Underwriter of Facultative, Large Risks and Energy of Labuan Re. She is also the head of the Technical Services Department and has over 28 years of experience in the insurance industry.

She holds an Insurance Diploma from the Malaysian Insurance Institute (DMII) and is an Associate member the Malaysian Insurance Institute (AMII).

Mazni joined the insurance industry in 1988, first as a Broker with Asli-Jardine Insurance Brokers Sdn Bhd and subsequently moved to UMBC Insurans Berhad  (UMBCI) as a  Marketeer in their Broking Department in 1991.

Following the Bank Negara’s introduction of the Large & Specialised Risks Scheme (LSR Scheme) in 1994, Mazni  was groomed and later promoted to head the LSR Unit within UMBCI’s Underwriting and Reinsurance Department. She was responsible for all the reinsurance placements, issuance  of manuscript policies and the necessary reporting relating to risks falling within the Scheme. Her tenure as the Head of the LSR Unit had provided her with a comprehensive exposure to major line of business and type of risks.

She has been with Labuan Re since April 2000 and is currently responsible for developing, marketing and underwriting Facultative businesses from Malaysia and all overseas territories.

EVELYN SIMON KINAJIL is the Head 0f Claims and Retrocession Recovery at LabuanRe.

She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) Marketing and a Diploma in Insurance (MII). She began her career as an Account Officer with Sabah Shipyard Sdn Bhd before joining Labuan Re as a Credit Control Executive in the Finance Department.

She was promoted to Manager in 2004 to handle both Credit Control and Administration portfolios and was subsequently transferred to the Claims Department in 2006 to manage the Claims & Treaty Administration operations.

She was promoted to her current position in 2017 and currently handles the Claims and Retrocession Recoveries portfolio.

CHAI WEI KOK is the Chief Information Officer at Labuan Re.

He graduated from University of Humberside, UK. He also holds a Master of Science (MSc) in IT in Business from University of Lincoln, UK. He is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from Project Management Institute (PMI), USA.

He started his career in 1995 with Boustead Holdings Berhad. He also has a career stint in various industries including financial MNCs in the banking and insurance sector. He assumed his current position in May 2016.

HASSANAL BUKHARI ABDULLAH is the Assistant Vice President and Treaty Underwriter for MENA, Retakaful for Labuan Re.

His reinsurance career started in 1998 when he joined Cameron Richard & Smith Insurance Services as a Financial Account Executive, and subsequently joined its subsidiary CRS Insurance Services Limited in Kuala Lumpur where he rose through the ranks to become Assistant General Manager – Technical. Prior to Labuan Re he was an Underwriter with Malaysian Re Dubai Limited, UAE, as part of the team that started their overseas office, and where he gained valuable experience in the international reinsurance industry. He graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin, USA with Bachelor Degree in Business Management.

Hassanal joined Labuan Re on December 2013 as Manager for MENA Division and assumed his present position in May 2016.

RAYMOND J. RAJAYAH is the Risk and Compliance Officer/Assistant Vice President of Labuan Re and holds a Diploma in Accounting (LCCI). He began his career at the Industrial Bank of Japan as an Account Executive in 1996.

He joined Labuan Re in 2002 as an Assistant Manager in the Administration Department and was transferred to the Corporate Development Department in 2003. He was then transferred to the Risk and Compliance Department in 2006 and subsequently assumed his present position in 2017.

TAN BEE CHAN is Assistant Vice President at Labuan Re.

She oversight Technical Accounting and General Ledger system function. She is a Chartered Accountant from the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA).

She started her career in small medium size of audit firm. She has over 17 years of working experience in the insurance industry. She joined Labuan Re in 2018.

ROHAYU HJ IDRIS has more than 17 years of professional experience in Human Resources with extensive exposure in operational and strategic Human Resources.

Prior to this appointment, Rohayu was heading the Market Training & Learning for Nestle Malaysia. During her 10-year tenure at Nestle, Rohayu took on several assignment at several Nestle Manufacturing Malaysia as well as Nestle Products Malaysia. Before that, she has assumed various HR related roles at NEC Semiconductors, a Japanese multinational company. With more than 17 years on the workforce, her vast experience encompasses broad range in the field of HR and her knowledge and exposure are mainly in the area of remunerations, talent management, training, recruitment and leadership development. Rohayu graduated from Universiti Teknologi Mara with Bachelor of Business Administration.

She joined Labuan Re on February 7th 2019 as the Head of Human Resources & Administration.
